Work Share Expectations and Requirements
- We ask that applicants come out and volunteer at least once prior to the start of the CSA season. This serves as an orientation/trial period to see if the work share program is a good fit for us both.
- We ask that work share members commit to working 4 hours every other week in exchange for a half share of produce. Members who contribute 4 hours each week will receive a full CSA share.
- We ask that members commit to a minimum 4 hour block of time when they schedule their work day to maximize efficiency. Work share participants must schedule their hours during our regular work hours (Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00).
- We ask that members commit for the entire CSA season, which lasts for approximately 24 weeks from June through October.
- We expect work share members to be on time and ready to work when they arrive on their chosen day. If you need to reschedule your time, please notify us in advance.
- Work share members must fulfill their work requirement for the week before picking up their share of produce.
- Members may be asked to perform physical work for 3 to 4 hour periods of time (lifting, bending, sitting, squatting, standing, carrying, pulling, etc.).
- Members may be assigned a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: weeding, hoeing, thinning crops, planting, harvesting, digging, washing produce, dividing shares, packaging produce, cleaning, etc.
- There will be days when the weather is less than desirable, but we will still work. Members must dress appropriately and be prepared for the possibility of changing weather conditions.
- Children must be accompanied by a responsible person to watch over them while the worker is fulfilling his/her hourly requirement. Non-working visitors will be limited to certain areas of the farm.
- The most important thing to keep in mind is that we are working farm. We must work fast and efficiently. Chatting is fine as long as you do it while doing another activity. It’s important that you focus on the task at hand and refrain from using cell phones and other electronic gadgets.
- Please note: We are not in a position to hire anyone for cash or any other type of financial incentive. Participation in the work share program is strictly on a volunteer basis and does not confer employee status on the work share member.
