Sustainability at Keelboat Farms
At Keelboat Farms, sustainability is about taking a balanced approach that allows us to pursue our dream of building a successful farming operation, while ensuring that future generations will have the same opportunity. Our number one priority is promoting the long-term health of the farm. This means avoiding short-term fixes like chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and treating the underlying issues instead.
Our goal is to move towards a zero input system, where everything needed to run our operation (energy, seeds, fertilizer, animal feed, water, etc.) is generated on the farm. We want to minimize the environmental impact of our farming activities as much as possible. We believe the farm can be a valuable addition to the larger ecosystem it belongs to. The gallery below shows some of our sustainable practices. |
