Our 300 Crate Challenge
Starting a community-based farm takes a lot of resources. It requires fencing, tools, implements, soil amendments, seeds, and lots of hard work. As part of our Building Knowledge, Building Community, Building a Farm concept, we wanted to get our community directly involved in helping us build the farm. Community involvement comes in many forms...offering spiritual/moral support, providing technical expertise, donating time/physical labor, or contributing financial support.
For those who wish to support our farm financially, we want to make sure they know that their contributions are going to help our community. That's why we set up our Donate-a-crate program. For every $25 contributed to our farm, we are committing to grow and deliver 1 crate of vegetables to a local family. Our goal is to deliver 300 crates of fresh vegetables to our community in 2015. We are also looking for community input to make sure these donated crates end up where they will make the most impact. Our Nominate-a-Crate program lets people in the community help us decide who these crates will go to. It could be a family in need, a local hero who deserves a pat on the back, or someone who could just use a little pick-me-up. |
