Building Knowledge
Exchanging ideas and developing a sense of shared knowledge is an important way to build a stronger community. Our learning experiences are based on our Building Knowledge, Building Community, Building a Farm concept. Learners become active participants in building the farm and our community, while building new knowledge that they can take back into their own communities.
A sample program might look something like this: a community group (like a Brownie troop or baseball team) spends part of the morning harvesting and packing tomatoes for our community outreach program. Afterwards, we all head to the kitchen for a class on making homemade salsa. Each student goes home with a jar of salsa that they made.
